Eight steps,
the same order,
every floor.
Consultation to clean-up. What happens at each step, what gets agreed before install day, and when each part happens.
Flooring Correct installs floors in eight steps: consultation, product selection, detailed quote, scheduling, preparation, expert installation, post-installation inspection and clean-up. The order is the same on every job, from the showroom at 15570 Veterans Memorial Pkwy in Wentzville to the last walkthrough in your house. Call 636-332-0654 to start one.
The order does not change. It runs the same way on a single bedroom of carpet and on a whole main level of luxury vinyl, which is the reason nobody on the job is guessing about what comes next. Here is what happens at each step and when.
- Consultation. We learn the rooms and how they get used.
- Product Selection. Samples narrowed down in the showroom, then seen at home.
- Detailed Quote. A free in-home measure, then a written number.
- Scheduling. The install date is set once your material is in.
- Preparation. Expectations agreed at scheduling, then the subfloor gets checked.
- Expert Installation. Crews with 15 or more years on the tools.
- Post-Installation Inspection. The room gets walked before anyone packs up.
- Clean-Up. The floor gets cleaned before anyone leaves.
Step by step
1. Consultation
You tell us about the room. Which rooms, how they get used, whether there are dogs or kids, whether there is a slab under the floor, how the stairs run, whether the laundry has ever flooded. We ask questions and rule things out before you look at a single sample. That conversation happens at the showroom on Veterans Memorial Pkwy, or over the phone at 636-332-0654 if you would rather start there. Nothing gets recommended until we know what the floor has to survive.
2. Product Selection
This is where the showroom earns its keep. Jonah, Audra and the staff pull the boards and swatches that fit what you described and take the rest off the table. Then you carry samples home and look at them in your own light, at night with the lamps on, next to your cabinets. Carpet from Mohawk, Godfrey Hirst, DreamWeaver and Pet Premier. Luxury vinyl from Mohawk, Casabella, MSI and Engineered Floors. Tile from DalTile, Emser, MSI and Virginia Tile. Hardwood from Portercraft, Hartco, Bella Cera and Jackson Hardwood.
3. Detailed Quote
Before a number gets written, we measure the actual rooms on the actual subfloor. The in-home measure is free, and it is where the details that move a price get found: how square the walls really are, where seams will fall, which direction the planks should run, how the new floor meets the tile in the bath and the carpet on the stairs. The old floor has to come out before a new one goes down, and how that is handled gets settled here rather than left to install day. You approve the quote before anything is ordered.
4. Scheduling
Material has to land before a crew can start, so the install date is set once your order is in rather than before. You pick the window that works around your week. This is also when the preparation expectations get agreed, so both sides know what is happening in the room before the crew arrives. Tile and hardwood are usually the longer jobs and carpet the shortest, so you get an honest range rather than a number that sounds good. If a delivery moves, you hear it from us.
5. Preparation
Preparation expectations are agreed when we schedule, which is what keeps install morning from turning into a scramble. What has to be out of the room, what has to be disconnected, and how the old floor is handled are all settled in advance and written into the quote rather than sorted out at the door. Then the subfloor gets checked flat, dry and clean, because most flooring complaints trace back to what was under the floor rather than the floor itself.
6. Expert Installation
Our installation crews have 15 or more years of experience, and most of our installers are 25 or more year installers. That shows up in the work nobody photographs. A plank layout set so the last row is not a sliver. A seam placed where the light will not find it. A stair nosing fitted. A transition between two floors cut so it reads as one decision instead of two. Tile keeps its own schedule because thinset and grout cure on their own time, and hardwood may sit in the house first so it comes into balance with your indoor humidity.
7. Post-Installation Inspection
Before anyone packs up, the room gets walked. Transitions, trim, seams, thresholds, the corners you would check yourself. Walk it with the crew and say something right then if a piece is not sitting the way you expected. It is a much easier conversation while the tools are still in the truck.
8. Clean-Up
The floor gets cleaned before anyone leaves, so you can walk it the same day instead of working around the tail end of an install. You also get care instructions for the floor you actually bought, because hardwood and luxury vinyl do not want the same mop or the same cleaner.
The same people, the whole way through
Flooring Correct is family owned. Jonah Paup trained 25 or more years under his father Bobby, and his Uncle David taught him how to run the store. The Paup boys, Bobby, Bill, David and Oscar, have been in flooring since the early 70s. The person who helps you pick a color is the person who answers when you call about the install. 131 Google reviews average 5.0.
We measure and install across St. Charles, Warren, St. Louis and Lincoln counties. The showroom is open Monday through Thursday 9:00 to 5:30, Friday 10:00 to 4:00 and Saturday 9:00 to 2:00, closed Sunday. More on how the work runs is on our flooring installation page, and the in-home measure page covers what happens before the quote. Call 636-332-0654 when you want to start at step one.
“We loved the service we received from Audra and Jonah during the process of choosing, ordering and installing our flooring and carpet. They kept us updated on the process every step of the way.”
What homeowners ask about the process
The questions that come up between the first showroom visit and the final walkthrough.
636-332-0654It depends on the material and how much prep the subfloor needs. Material has to be delivered before a crew can start, so the install date is set once your order is in. Carpet in a few bedrooms is often a single day. A main level of luxury vinyl or laminate usually runs one to a few days. Tile takes longer, because thinset and grout cure on their own schedule.
Preparation expectations are agreed when we schedule. We go over what has to be out of the room, what needs disconnecting and how the old floor is handled, and all of it is settled before the install date is on the calendar. If you are unsure about a particular piece, raise it at the in-home measure or call 636-332-0654.
Yes. Estimates and the in-home measure are both free. We measure the actual rooms on the actual subfloor, then write a quote covering material, underlayment, prep and labor. You approve that quote before anything is ordered.
You can start with a call to 636-332-0654, but the selection step still needs to happen. Handling samples in the showroom and then looking at them under your own lights at home is what keeps color and sheen from surprising you after the floor is down.
Our installation crews. Every crew has 15 or more years of experience and most of our installers are 25 or more year installers. The same crews handle residential and commercial work, which is why a school or an office can be phased around how the building gets used.
Say so at the final walkthrough if you spot it then, since that is the easiest time to sort it out. If it turns up later, call the showroom at 636-332-0654. The same people who sold you the floor answer the phone, and we are on Veterans Memorial Pkwy in Wentzville six days a week.
Yes. There is a 12 month zero percent plan through Avvance. Getting approved before you choose is the easier order, because then the monthly number is settled and you are picking a floor inside a budget you already know.
Start at step one.
The consultation and the in-home measure are both free. Call 636-332-0654 or send the room details and we will set a time that works around your week.
