Solid hardwood asks two things of a house that no other floor asks in the same way: it wants to sit in the room and reach terms with it before installation, and once it is down it is fastened, so whatever the subfloor is doing becomes permanent. What we are establishing is easy to state and impossible to guess from the driveway. A level that sits on or above grade over a wood deck is where solid wood belongs. A level sitting on a concrete slab, or down below grade with earth against the wall, is not, whatever that room felt like in October. Across a stock of 321 units nobody has surveyed room by room, that gets settled house by house, and settled for the level in question rather than for the address as a whole, because a single Flint Hill house can give both answers on two floors.

Access from US 61 has been rebuilt, and it changes how a delivery is routed. MoDOT, St. Charles County and the City of Wentzville removed five median openings on US 61 and replaced the Route P and Peine Road crossovers with a single interchange, with a bridge over the highway, ramps, and a roundabout east of it connecting Peine Road to Route P. The openings at Grothe Road, at Timber Trace Drive, at Granville Drive North, and at Granville Drive South and Silvercote Drive went with them, so those intersections are right in and right out and the crossing of US 61 happens at the interchange.

None of that is an obstacle to a delivery. It is a reason the approach gets worked out before the truck is loaded rather than at the last median opening, because a driver who cannot turn left has to have been sent the right way in the first place. It is worth ten seconds on the phone when you book, along with what the last stretch of your own drive looks like to something carrying weight.
